Thursday Part II

Posted by Kat in Life

We survived a 2 hour business lunch with all three children. They were actually better than I thought they would be, and I was suprised that we had 2 hours in the restaurant. Very cool.

We are planning a March/April trip to DFW if anyone is interested in a mini-meet-up. I know one couple who is interested, I need to come up with hotel information. I’m trying to figure out dates and go from there.

Thursday

Posted by Kat in Life

Major acid reflux. I wonder if it is pregnancy related, or because of my delicious organic breakfast smoothie I made for myself and FireCracker. SuperGlue opted for a grilled cheese sandwich with real cheese and wheat bread. I stole the first bite and it was mmm mm good.

I’m utterly amazed at how online forums can be, and how immature and hateful that (supposedly) adult mothers can be. I’m definitely glad I’ve steppd back from how participative I used to be, I’ve found much greater happiness with old friends and my family. It would be my guess that those who are filled with such hate, are that way so they don’t have to focus on the misery and the shortcomings in their own lives. And let’s not forget the attention seekers who constantly whine about everything going wrong but will never do anything to change or rectify the problems in their lives. How could I neglect to mention them?

Btw, Michigan Crunchy. HotHubby says to go kick some ass. LMAO!

Goodbye Washington

Posted by Kat in Life

I’ve had to cancel on my Seattle buddy because HotHubby and I need to check out Texas again to see if that is where our 1 year plan will focus on. We are looking to go visit DFW in March/April and I just can’t afford both with my $1500 tooth.

I guess I’ll be coming back from Texas, pregnant. 2 years in a row. I totally jinxed myself.

If this baby a boy, we’re calling him Texas. I found out today that someone very near and dear to me is basically a due date buddy. How cool!

For that guy who didn’t have to

Posted by Kat in John, Life

Today on my way in the wrong direction I was stopped. I was stopped by some guy in a very old beaten up car. This guy was missing most of his teeth. It couldn’t be more of a stereotype, apparantlyI was wrong.

The guy asks me if I am lost. “No I am fine. Just down the road take a right on to sr3,” I said. He smiles and informs me I am wrong. “Other way,” he says. “Follow me, I am headed that way”.

He saved me alot of time.

So to you sir, Mr Toothless guy who I judged the moment I saw you, I thank you so much for your help. You are a gentleman and I hope to grow to be more like you. With teeth.

It’s been a few days

Posted by Kat in Life

I’ve grappled with invoicing almost as long as I have been in business. It’s really hard to bill one-time customers, and repeat (monthly, quarterly, annually) customers within the same system. I’ve finally conquered the issue and am nearly caught up on everything. I left 2005 and am nearly done with 2006. It looks completely unprofessional to be behind like this, but all I can do is catch up, apologize and never (ever) let it happen again. To finally finish up with be a huge weight removed from my shoulders, free to begin other professional tasks.

Yeah, a boring entry. I know. HotHubby had a customer West of Divide (all the Colorado readers will know where I am talking about) and he wants to move there. I just can’t justify spending that much on a house. One would think the elevation is higher than the Springs, but it is about equal. I don’t care where I live as long as I don’t have to give my soul to the mortgage company for a decent place. The Springs is ridiculously expensive, despite the fact that we don’t have a shortage of land. They keep on building east and east and east and the old areas of Colorado Springs look n-a-s-t-y. Of course that isn’t true for everywhere, but a lot of the “old” springs looks soooo dumpy. It is a true shame, especially coming from Boston where there is such a shortage of land and people are forced to buy the dumpy homes and turn them into gorgeous properties.

What to do. What to do. I can’t live in this house this time next year. We’re working, living and homeschooling in the same space with 3 kiddos and one on the way. This is not the place I want to be raising a large family this time next year. I wish the soldiers would come back and drive up the house prices… I know it won’t happen, but one can always dream.

SuperGlue on Love

It’s Official!

Posted by Kat in Boston, Life

HotHubby called and told my Mom today that we are, in fact, expecting our fourth baby. I was waiting for him to tell her before I told “the world” on my blog. This pregnancy is very much wanted, but also very much a suprise. Baby #4 is due 3 days before LittleMan turns 1. Time for a bigger house. :-) I had a few positive pregnancy tests laying around the house and SuperGlue was asking me what the tese were. Until we were sure that I really am pregnant, I was telling her “they are tests to show how smart Mommy is.” After much guilt, we told her the truth and she was SOOOOO excited. FireCracker won’t know what hit her, and LittleMan is oblivous to everything but the most important thing is that this baby will be welcomed into a home with a happy marriage and 3 healthy and beautiful siblings to love him/her.

Blog Links

Posted by Kat in Life

When I have 10 minutes with a cup of coffee, I like to do the rounds and read some blogs. It’s tiring clicking on the same handful of links to blogs that people don’t update. I think an update should occur at least once a week, but every 2 weeks for those that aren’t commited. I am cleaning house on my blog, removing the links of those who don’t update and welcoming new links of those people that want a reciprocal link. Anyone interested? I especially love the homeschooling, crunchy mom blogs and those who truly WAH.

If you want your blog link to stay up here, try blogging once in a while. If you want a link up here, comment with the link to your blog!

The Kiddos

Posted by Kat in Julie, Life, London, Rachel

I weighed the kids today and….

SuperGlue is 44lbs
FireCracker is 29lbs (she has lost about 6 pounds from being so active)
LittleMan is 16.2lbs

Not bad. I find it funny that our non-vax’d infant son who is now formula fed and has the least immunities (obviously) was the only one who didn’t get the nasty stomach virus that we were all inflicted with. The girls barely got it and HotHubby and I (who were fully vaccinated) got it the worst.

Dinner

Posted by Kat in Life

SuperGlue and I made a rockin’ dinner tonight. Organic chicken breast, paxo stuffing and baked potatos. We also threw together a beautiful pan of brownies and baked them in the toaster over. It was soooo delicious. She is also in the habit of making lunch for her and her sister (monitored by yours truly). She is really coming independant in just about every aspect, if only she would brush her teeth without a fight. No amount of threatening that her teeth will fall out of her head has been able to help get through to her.

Our bird feeder project isn’t going so well. I haven’t seen a single bird since the inception of the project. I guess we needed to revisit our R&D team to come up with a new project before the spring. Our bulbs grown in water are goreous, we have some paperwhites blossoming right now on the kitchen table. I’m all about the special projects, both in work and with the kiddos.

If anyone has any good projects that SuperGlue and I can do, drop me a line or send me a comment. Thanks!

After…

Posted by Kat in Life

After cleaning up the living room for the 5th time, I look at my living room which is where HotHubby and the girls have been playing…. and I find myself in another sea of toys. So to rally the troops I say this:

“It’s time to clean up! Let’s all do it together, but I’m not helping.”

HotHubby thought I should blog this. I’ve cleaned up after everyone multiple times today, I’ve hung up my cleaning hat for the night.

We started a bird feeder / watching project today. The small feeder is FireCracker’s responsibility and the round (donut) one that SuperGlue is holding is for SuperGlue . No birds yet, I hope they will show up soon. The last picture is FireCracker in her favorite spot. LOL

Seattle Here I come

Posted by Kat in Life

A group of Moms that I have known online and IRL for quite some time (with a vacation in the middle) are arranging a meet-up in Seattle and I’ve been given the “all clear” to go from HotHubby. This was a good thing yesterday as T called me while we were on the way home from M’s party to let me know she had commited us to the rental and she is having to send in $$. HotHubby is very happy for me, and will be keeping all three children alone when I am gone. I wonder how the house will look when I get back, but that won’t stop me from having a good time. Margueritas, anyone? I must look again to see if they have a jacuzzi. As long as I don’t come home to a positive pregnancy test like last year when I went to Dallas, I’ll be fine. LOL

Edited to add, that came out wrong. I got pregnant by HotHubby well before my last holiday, I just don’t want to be in the habit of finding out I am pregnant when I get back from a weekend alone. I do have to say that I don’t regret getting drunk in Chicago Midway as I had already been delayed a day going back to Boston because of an eastern seaboard white out. LittleMan certainly doesn’t seem any worse for the wear. Had I known I was pregnant, I obviously wouldn’t have treated myself in the airport lounge. LOL

Once we have Seattle out of the way, HotHubby and I have to decide if we want to fly the family back to Boston for a second 2006 visit, or drive to DFW to scout out the area.

About Me

TeamRachel aka mrskatvon is both a website to gain public awareness of Juvenile Batten Disease (which affects my oldest daughter) as well as a journal to remember the events in our lives. Rachel was diagnosed with Batten Disease in July 2009 and while we knew something was "not right" we had no idea that such a nightmarish disease existed. There are dozens of nasty, orphan disease which affect people both very young and old. Aside from dealing with the changes of Batten Disease in my daughter, Rachel, I have tasked myself with making life memorable for all of my children to make sure that (at least) 3 of them grow up to be as well adjusted and happy as possible.
